Mono Inc.
Mono Inc. is a German gothic and alternative rock band. It was founded by its current vocalist Martin Engler in Hamburg in 2000. Its founders also were Carl Fornia and Mikey Mono. All three of them played in the Wild Thing until 1997, and from 1998 to 2000 in a band called Mono 69. In 2003 bassist Manuel Antoni joined them. The band combines in its music gothic rock, metal and industrial, calling their music monorock, which comes from the word “Monomania”, a medical term from the early 1900s, which means “partially insane”. But over the last years Mono Inc. shown on the stage, what can be called “complete madness”.
Their debut album Head Under Water was released in 2003. Then, after a long break and the arrival of new vocalist (who had previously played in this band on drums) the band released their second album – Temple of the Torn. One year later, they released the next album titled Pain, Love & Poetry, which was preceded by the single Teach Me to Love – a duet with Lisa Middelhauve (former vocalist of Xandria). The fourth album was released in 2009. In April 2009, Mono Inc. went on tour together with Subway To Sally and ASP. They played more than 40 concerts all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Also the band has taken part in recording a band remix album of Megaherz, namely they have recorded a cover version of the song Herzblut.
On September 25, 2009 they released a new album – Voices of Doom, followed by the EP, and in October Mono Inc. went on their first tour in support of the album. In addition, the group acted as support during the anniversary tour of Unheilig. Apparently, the band members of Mono Inc. liked the experiments with female vocals, and therefore they were using it more frequently.
In the autumn of 2010, ex-vocalist of the band Miki Mono died under the tragic circumstances during the accident of a motor glider. On March 18, 2011 was released the fifth album of the band, titled Viva Hades. From April 1, 2011 Mono Inc. again went on tour, which was interrupted by their participation in several famous festivals, such as, for example, the Mera Luna Festival. On November 19, the tour continued. On October 14, 2011 there was another mini-album of the band called Revenge, which in addition to the title track from Viva Hades includes three more live recordings.
